The School of Mechanical, Industrial & Aeronautical Engineering invites applications for appointment at the levels of Professor, Associate Professor or Senior Lecturer. DESCRIPTION: Degrees in the School are internationally accredited and a range of undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes are offered. The School has a strong team of dedicated staff and excellent facilities. At the Professor Level, a PhD in Industrial Engineering is essential. The successful candidate would have an international profile in Management of Manufacturing and Operations Technology with a particular background in Industry 4.0. S/he would conduct and supervise research at all levels with a record of substantial research funding. The successful candidate will have a proven record of significant interactions with industry and the profession. QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: At the Associate Professor Level, a PhD in Industrial Engineering is essential. The successful candidate would have a distinguished record of scholarship/teaching and be a research leader in Management of Manufacturing and Operations Technology with a particular background in Industry 4.0. S/he would conduct and supervise research at all levels with a record of substantial research funding. The successful candidate will have a proven record of significant interactions with industry and the profession. At the Senior Lecturer Level, a PhD in Industrial Engineering is essential. The successful candidate would have a distinguished record of scholarship/teaching and be research active in Management of Manufacturing and Operations Technology with a particular background in industry 4.0. S/he would conduct and supervise research at all levels. A record of substantial research funding would be advantageous. The successful candidate will have a proven record of interactions with industry and the profession. The successful candidate at any level will have a good knowledge of the basic material pertaining to undergraduate Industrial Engineering courses, and the background to be able to be registered as a Professional Engineer, if not already registered in South Africa. Contributions towards excellence in research, education and professional services; academic leadership in the field of Industrial Engineering; undergraduate and postgraduate lecturing in the field of Industrial Engineering with emphasis on field research; research leadership and project supervision; active engagement with industrial partners; University administration. Dr Osman Ahmed – New IAMOT President
Dear Board Members,
It gives me a great pleasure to inform you that, based on the results of the votes of the election that was conducted by the Chairman of the Board, Prof. Leon Pretorius, Dr. Osman Ahmed has been elected the new President of our Association. Many of you know Osman as a loyal and valuable member of IAMOT for many years. He has contributed to the association in numerous ways, including recently being a keynote speaker at the 2016 conference in Orlando.
Osman brings a strong academic background and excellent professional experience to the position. After many years of high level technical positions at Siemens Corporation, he recently joined Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in the USA, where he is now a Principal Technical Advisor, Advanced Controls.
Please join me in congratulating Dr. Osman Ahmed on this special honor.

The IAMOT “Service to the MOT Community” Award is awarded for “Valuable contribution to the MOT community. Nominations are from the membership and selection is by the award committee. Award recipient receives a plaque, online a certificate, recognition by the IAMOT, letter to his/ her organization, waiver for the conference fee, and one year IAMOT membership.
