Featured MOT program: SFU

I’m going to try to feature an MOT program on our web site every month. Here is the first one: The MOT MBA at Simon Fraser University (my home institution, so why not?)

The MBA in Management of Technology (MOT) is designed for those wishing to transition from scientific or technical roles or, as managers, signal their readiness for additional responsibilities. The MOT MBA is a dynamic mix of solid academic theory complemented by practical experience designed to mirror the challenging situations facing the technology sector.

French IAMOT blogger on China

If you read French you may be interested in this new post by Dominique Jolly, order an IAMOT member from France. He has a link to his blog, hospital as well.

Chers amis,

News from Minnesota

Massoud Amin sent in a couple of news items:

Congratulations to the first recipients of newly funded merit scholarships at the Technological Leadership Institute in honor of Professors Jack Shulman and Rias van Wyk (http://tli.umn.edu/index.php?id=663). While most of our focus at TLI is on the cohort graduate MOT program, buy cialis we have also created and teach three courses (based on our “MOT DNA”) for other undergraduate/graduate students across the University (one offered as a hybrid delivery course), cialis and a leadership workshop series.

The Gemini Leadership Workshop Series of the Technological Leadership Institute at the University of Minnesota (http://tli.umn.edu/gemini/gemini_programdetails) received coverage on the front page of the Star Tribune on Sunday 11/13/11 (http://www.startribune.com/lifestyle/133752073.html) and an earlier related article on “U’s College of Science and Engineering launch entrepreneurial workshops” (http://www.startribune.com/blogs/130358533.html).

What’s new in MoT?

Google Scholar is just one of the (many) wonderful things about Google. If you’re an academic you have probably explored it from time to time. One of the neat things you can do is create a search strategy, save it as a bookmark, and revisit that “page” (which is just the results of your search, run afresh) whenever you want.

Here, for example, is everything new (since 2009) with “management of technology” in the title.

Even cooler, you can set up an email alert whenever anything is added to that list. Click on the link above and then try it for yourself.
